Come one, come all for RCF’s 7th Annual Bearthday on April 27th!

Spring is here and there is a multitude of things to do sprouting up here, there and everywhere in Raleigh. It’s this time of year when the whole city seems to wake up out of a winter spent hibernating, keeping warm and waiting for the light outside to lengthen and the temps to rise and then (inevitably) fall and then rise again, until everything feels warmer and that much brighter. The farm is waking up, too, and we are anticipating our first big event of the year, our BEARTHDAY on Saturday, April 27 (10am-1pm)!

If you’re new to Raleigh City Farm (welcome!), allow us to explain what this event is and why we spell it that way. Bearthday is partly a celebration of the Farm’s (7th!) birthday but it’s also a celebration of “Earth Day,” hence the name Bearthday. It’s a time when we gather to celebrate our community and our farm partners who bind together to make this whole community-supported urban agriculture experiment keep on growing year after year.

We have so many exciting things planned for this year’s event…

A FREE, FAMILY-FRIENDLY BAZAAR complete with farm tours and educational demonstrations led by farm partner, Infinity Hundred Farms;

LOCAL & SUSTAINABLE VENDORS like our friends Bee Better, Capital Area Food Network (CAFN), and CompostNow;

CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES led by our program partner Piedmont Picnic Project;

BREAKFAST TACOS by soon-to-open Ex-Voto, COFFEE from Larry’s Coffee, MIMOSAS by Wine Authorities & BEER from Wicked Weed Brewing (all for purchase) and “Bearthday” CUPCAKES donated by Whole Foods Market;

A SILENT AUCTION featuring one-of-a-kind items and experiences;

The celebration will culminate in a special unveiling of a community art project with support from generous sponsors and event partners in attendance. We hope you will join us for an unforgettable event because it simply won’t be our Bearthday without you there.

*Proceeds from the event help support Raleigh City Farm’s mission to grow the next generation of farmers by connecting our community to sustainable agriculture.
