Bearthday 2021 Recap

What a day! Tell us—is there anything better than spending Earth Day in the wide open space of a lush urban farm, surrounded by sprouting vegetables, bees buzzing, and pops of pastel petals in the distance? We can’t imagine there is, except maybe spending Earth Day in this setting after a very long, very dark, very distanced winter.

Hope is in the spring air, friends, and on April 24th the best place to breath it in was at Raleigh City Farm. Over 150 guests and volunteers turned out for our Bearthday event, celebrating ten years (ten years!!!) of Raleigh City Farm and Earth Day. The Pounded Pig’s delicious biscuit boxes and incredible 3-course meals (featuring RCF produce, and truffles from Videri Chocolate Factory) were a huge hit. Orders also included Spoonflower cocktail napkins, Murphy’s insect repellent, Good Dirt “dirt bags” with seeds, and wine from Wine Authorities. Visitors young and old toured our one‐acre site, which is blossoming with new growth thanks to Farm Manager Maria Williford, as well as new features like our greenhouse nursery and composting mural. Two of our Farm partners, Charles Wagner of Myrkwood Mushrooms and beekeeper Nic Eason, were highlights on the tour. And of course, it wouldn’t be our Bearthday without plenty of free and absurdly delicious cupcakes (courtesy of Once in a Blue Moon Bakery).

What a day. Most importantly, we raised over $11,000 in critical funding which goes directly toward our mission: To connect and nourish our community through regenerative agriculture.

Our hearts and bellies were full and we hope you felt the same!

This annual celebration would not be possible without the support of our community. We have so many folks to thank. With deep gratitude, we’d like to acknowledge:
