Welcoming Feed the Pack to Our Farmshare Program

At Raleigh City Farm, our mission is to connect and nourish our community through regenerative agriculture. Through our Farmshare program, we partner with local nonprofits to address food insecurity and ensure that fresh, nutritious produce reaches as many people as possible. We’re thrilled to announce the addition of a new partner to this impactful program: Feed the Pack Food Pantry at NC State.

Feed the Pack Food Pantry has seen an unprecedented demand for its services in recent years, with 2023-2024 marking the busiest year in its history. The pantry, which provides food to members of the NC State community, distributed as much in one month as it did throughout all of 2018. This incredible surge in need has been met with resilience, determination, and now, support from Raleigh City Farm. Since August 16th, we’ve donated nearly 500 pounds of farm-fresh produce to Feed the Pack, helping them continue their vital mission of feeding the NC State community with dignity and respect.

We’re proud of this partnership and the opportunity it brings to help address food insecurity right here in Raleigh. As our Farmshare program continues to grow, so does its impact. In 2024 alone, we’ve donated more than 5,000 pounds of produce to our partners. We look forward to working together and sharing more fresh food with our community.

A Quick Reminder About the Farmshare Program

For those who may not be familiar, Raleigh City Farm's Farmshare program was launched in 2020 with the goal of providing fresh, locally-grown produce to organizations addressing food insecurity. From April to November, we sell our produce at the weekly Farmstand, and any unsold items are donated to our nonprofit partners. During the winter months (November to March), we dedicate the majority of our harvest to these partnerships, ensuring that our local food system supports those most in need year-round.

Here’s a quick snapshot of our inspiring nonprofit partners:

  • A Place At The Table

  • Alliance of Aids Services - Carolinas

  • Carolina Cares

  • Catholic Parish Outreach

  • Feed the Pack Food Pantry at NC State

  • Inter-Faith Food Shuttle

  • Logan’s Plant A Row for the Hungry (PAR)

  • Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC’s Middle Mile Program

  • Poe Center for Health Education

Together, these organizations help distribute the healthy produce we grow to individuals and families facing food insecurity. If you'd like to support this mission, there are several ways you can get involved:

  • Join the Cultivator Club: Make a monthly gift that underwrites our Farmshare Program.

  • Make a One-Time Gift: Donations help us continue to grow and share healthy produce with our nonprofit partners.

  • Shop at Farmstand: Every Wednesday from April-November, your purchases directly support our Farmshare efforts.

  • Spread the Word: Tell your friends and family about Farmshare and how they can help share it forward with neighbors in need.

We’re grateful for your continued support of Raleigh City Farm and our mission to create a healthier, more connected community. To learn more about the Farmshare program and our partners, please visit our Farmshare page.
